Questions

What runway is Hohhot Baita International Airport (HET/ZBHH) using right now?

As of Tue 27 Oct, 20:00 local, Hohhot Baita International Airport (HET/ZBHH) is using landing and departure 08. Confidence: METAR/TAF WIND VECTOR PREDICTION. Hohhot Baita International Airport active runway and live wind come from live NOAA Aviation Weather Center METAR (40° @ 6 kt) and TAF wind vector decomposition. 08 shows 5.1 kt headwind, 0.0 kt tailwind, and 3.2 kt crosswind from the left. Closed runways: none listed. Open the live interactive map at https://planespottingmap.com/airport/ZBHH or turn on Telegram Runway Shift Alerts at https://planespottingmap.com/airport/ZBHH#runway-alerts.

How do crosswinds affect runway selection at Hohhot Baita International Airport?

Aircraft land and depart into the wind. Headwind is the part of the wind along the runway heading. Crosswind is the part blowing across the pavement. A negative headwind is a tailwind. At Hohhot Baita International Airport (HET/ZBHH) the live call is landing and departure 08 with METAR wind 40° @ 6 kt. 08 shows 5.1 kt headwind, 0.0 kt tailwind, and 3.2 kt crosswind from the left. Controllers switch runways when the opposite threshold offers more headwind, or when the crosswind on the runway in use climbs. The component table lists every ZBHH threshold so you can see which end holds the headwind and which end is taking the tailwind.
